Governor Beebe is right – again…

Today’s Arkansas Democrat Gazette quotes Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe about the potential of waiting in line to vote tomorrow:
“If I have to wait, I have to wait. I don’t care,” said Gov. Mike Beebe, a Democrat who planned to cast his vote in White County Tuesday morning. “That will be one of the most pleasant [...]

About tomorrow – Election Day

I’ve heard a few people boast that Nov. 4 is “Obama” Day. Others retort, “No! It’s McCain Day!”
You know what? It’s ELECTION DAY! Not overthrow day, not coup day, not anarchy day. ELECTION day.
Here’s my favorite definition:

In August 1936, Adolf Hitler’s Nazi [...]

Rain dispersal rockets?

Opening Olympic ceremony in Beijing spared by more than 1,000 rain dispersal rockets?
The official Xinhua News Agency reported that the government fired more than 1,000 “rain dispersal rockets” to blow rain clouds away and ensure dry air for the gala, four-hour event. It was said to be China’s largest rain dispersal operation and the first [...]

080808 Olympic ceremonies – An uneasy feeling

Like many viewers across the globe, I watched the opening Olympic ceremonies televised last night. My favorite images and storyline were of Yao Ming and his heroic 8 year old friend Lin Hao.
Still, the NBC broadcast team’s comments left me feeling a bit uneasy. Their job, of course, was to provide color and interpretation for [...]
